About Michael Duncan

Dreaming in Blue20mg.jpg

Michael Duncan is a contemporary artist whose work explores identity, memory, emotional transformation, and the hidden structures that shape human experience. Working across sculpture and painting, Duncan creates abstract forms that merge biomorphic imagery, skeletal architectures, and layered psychological space.

Influenced in part by his Louisiana roots and by the interconnected systems found throughout nature and the human body, his work investigates themes of fragmentation, resilience, awakening, and repair. Through intertwined forms, rhythmic movement, and evolving internal landscapes, Duncan examines the tension between vulnerability and endurance, concealment and revelation, isolation and connection.

Rather than presenting direct representation, Duncan uses abstraction as a way of translating emotional and psychological experience into physical form. His sculptures and paintings invite viewers into immersive spaces that feel simultaneously anatomical, symbolic, and deeply personal.

Central to Duncan’s practice are themes of inclusion, acceptance, transformation, and the complexity of becoming fully visible within oneself and the world.
